Automatic IAB categorization: organizing your curations
Edit in CMSLetterhead automatically assigns IAB categories — the Interactive Advertising Bureau’s industry-standard taxonomy for classifying digital content — to everything in your Curations library. It runs in the background on all content, with nothing to activate or configure.
IAB categories are applied automatically and can’t be created or edited. For labels you control yourself, use your own tags or per-feed default tags alongside them.
Why it’s useful
Section titled “Why it’s useful”- Effortless organization — content is categorized the moment it enters your library; you don’t lift a finger.
- Powerful filtering — filter and sort your curations by precise IAB tags, like showing only “Science & Education” or “Travel” content.
- Predictable results — categories are applied by simple, fixed rules, so tagging is consistent and explainable.
- Industry standard — classification follows official IAB standards, the same professional taxonomy advertisers use.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”The categorization engine is deterministic and rule-based — no machine-learning guesswork:
- Keyword analysis — the system reads keywords extracted from your content.
- Rule check — it compares them against defined keyword sets for major topics like Health, Politics, or Business.
- Refinement — based on those rules, it confirms, adds, or refines the category tags.
- Final tagging — the item gets its precise IAB category, limited to the Tier 2 level so filtering stays simple.
Open your Curations library and you’ll see the categories already applied, ready to filter with.
