How to Send a Test Email from Your Automation

From the Automations page you can send yourself and others a test email of any automation. The test shows exactly what the newsletter would look like if it sent right now, so you can check it without waiting for the automation to run.

Send a test

Go to Automations and find the automation you want to test.
Open the test option — either from the send-a-test action on the automation’s row in the list, or by opening the automation and choosing Send a Test.
Enter up to five email addresses and click Send a Test. You’ll see a confirmation once it’s sent.
Check your inbox — test messages have “Automation Test” added to the subject so they’re easy to spot.

Want to make changes after reviewing? The test email includes a link at the top that takes you straight to the composer to edit the template.

Why test

Get a point-in-time look at your content with the current items from your feed
Verify dynamic content (like RSS or curation blocks and dynamic subjects) renders without errors or formatting issues
Refine your design and copy before real subscribers see it

Does this work for every automation type?

Yes. Recurring newsletters and non-recurring automations (like welcome emails) both support test sends — open the automation and use Send a Test.
