Custom fields for curations

Edit in CMS

Custom fields let you attach structured metadata of your own design to curated items — things like “Topic,” “Event date,” or “Reading level” — so your Curations library can be organized and filtered on the dimensions that matter to your publication.

What custom fields give you:

  • Your own metadata schema — define fields that fit your content, beyond the built-in title, excerpt, tags, and URL.
  • Better filtering — find related items by field values instead of scanning titles.
  • Display in the sent email — custom fields on curated articles can appear directly in the newsletter, styled to match your layout; see displaying custom fields in your newsletter.
  • Automatic population from WordPress — if you curate from a WordPress site, map WordPress custom fields to Letterhead and the values flow in on their own.

You define your fields once on the Custom Fields tab in Curations — they apply across your company’s library — then fill in their values on individual items:

  1. Go to the Custom Fields tab and click Add custom field. Give the field a name and, optionally, a character limit, then create it.
  2. Open a curated item to edit it, find the custom fields section, and enter or update the values.
  3. Save — the values are stored with the item and available for filtering and display.

Custom fields are in early access, so the exact controls may evolve; if you don’t see them where you expect, ask your admin, or ask the Letterhead assistant (early access) — how it works.
