How do you opt-out of double opt-ins?

Edit in CMS

When double opt-in is enabled, new subscribers receive an email asking them to confirm their subscription. Only after they confirm do they start receiving your newsletters.

Double opt-in protects your sending reputation by ensuring only real, engaged people join your list — it filters out bots, typos, and accidental submissions, and helps prevent spam complaints. It’s on by default.

Double opt-in is part of your Audience Policies. Only organization administrators can change the opt-in behavior of a channel.

  • Organization level — go to your organization’s Settings, open the Newsletters tab, and use the Double Opt-In toggle under Audience Policies. This applies across all channels in the organization.
  • Channel level — under a channel’s Settings → Sending emails, the Double Opt-In toggle under Audience Policies inherits the organization-level value by default, but an organization administrator can override it for that channel.

Turning off double opt-in means anyone who submits an address — including mistyped or fake ones — joins your list immediately. Consider pairing it with Recipient Validation to protect list quality if you do.
