How do I curate using a URL?
Edit in CMSThe URL block expands a link into a rich preview inside your newsletter — ideal for sharing a specific article, event, or post. It’s the right choice when you want one or two specific pieces of content, rather than an auto-updating feed (that’s the RSS block).
How it works
Section titled “How it works”URL placeholders pull Open Graph metadata from the link you provide. If the source doesn’t publish proper Open Graph information, the preview may not load — some sources (like Twitter/X) remain unsupported. Submit a support ticket to request a specific website or service.
Add a URL block
Section titled “Add a URL block”- Drag the URL block into your newsletter.
- Enter the link in the Source field.
- Click Load.
Choose which fields show
Section titled “Choose which fields show”A URL block can display several pieces of the fetched page — the title, an excerpt, an image, and details like the author, source, and publication date. You control which of these appear using the block’s display options.
When you load a link, the block honours the display options you’ve set rather than switching on every field the page happens to expose:
- Title and excerpt show by default.
- A field you’ve turned on appears when the page provides it.
- A field you’ve left off stays off — its fetched content is still one toggle away whenever you want it.
The same defaults apply to the bulleted link style of the block: after a URL loads, it shows a clean title and excerpt, keeps every other fetched field one toggle away, and leaves the call-to-action button and the inline “Read more” link available alongside.
Styling options
Section titled “Styling options”Like other blocks, you can add a Border, change the Background and Text colors, modify the Font style, and adjust the Padding — see How do I use the new design settings?
If links won’t load
Section titled “If links won’t load”Make sure Letterhead’s crawler can reach the page. Safelist these domains: *.tryletterhead.com, letterhead.email, and letterhead.ai. The crawler is labeled LetterheadCurationBot, user-agent Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; LetterheadCurationBot/1.0; +http://tryletterhead.com/bots).
