How to Use Auto Inject for Promotions in Newsletters

Edit in CMS

Auto Inject places promotions in your newsletters automatically, in a position you choose ahead of time — header, hero, mid-body, bottom-body, or footer. Letterhead handles the placement at send time, so there’s no dragging promotion blocks into each edition. For everything else the Promotions area can do, see Working in Promotions.

You set up Auto Inject when creating or editing a promotion template at the Organization level:

  1. Go to Promotions → Templates and create or edit a template.
  2. Check Auto Inject for newsletters.
  3. Choose a position: Header, Hero Section, Mid-body, Bottom-body, or Footer.
  4. Save the template.

You still create a Campaign and Promotion from this template as usual — Auto Inject only affects newsletter placement.

Once the promotion is created and scheduled, you don’t add a promotion block manually. When a newsletter’s send date falls within the promotion’s scheduled dates, the promotion appears automatically in the template’s position — in both the compose preview and the delivered email.

Auto-injected promotions are locked in place and can’t be moved in the newsletter builder. That’s intentional: it protects placements you’ve promised to advertisers. If you need flexible positioning, leave Auto Inject off and place promotion blocks manually — you can mix auto-injected and manually placed promotions in the same newsletter.

  • Header — above the first section
  • Hero Section — after the first block
  • Mid-body — roughly a quarter of the way down the newsletter
  • Bottom-body — roughly three-quarters of the way down
  • Footer — just above the footer, after the last section

This logic keeps placement consistent even as newsletter structures vary.

Auto-inject a company promotion into every send

Company promotions can also auto-inject — into every send across your newsletters:

  1. Open your company promotions and select the promotion.
  2. Enable auto-inject.
  3. Pick a placement (header, hero, mid-body, bottom, footer) or leave it at the default spot.

The promotion then appears in every newsletter’s preview and delivered email automatically. You can change the placement or turn auto-inject off at any time from the promotion’s settings.

  • You want consistent promotion placement across all newsletters
  • You manage multiple advertisers and want a hands-off workflow
  • You’ve pre-sold fixed promotion slots that don’t change edition to edition
  • You have a house ad or company promotion that should ride along in every send
