Ask the assistant why a link looks different in the inbox

What this does

A link’s color or underline can look different once a newsletter lands in an inbox than it did while you were writing it. Instead of hunting through settings, you can now ask Penpal, Letterhead’s assistant, to explain what’s going on.

Penpal reads the newsletter’s own data to tell you:

  • The link color and style saved on the newsletter itself (which may differ from your channel’s usual defaults)
  • Any color, bold, italic, or underline you applied to that specific piece of text while writing

This works on drafts you haven’t sent yet, so you can check styling before anything goes out.

When to use it

Use this when:

  • A link looks unexpectedly styled in a preview or delivered newsletter
  • You want to confirm what styling will apply before sending
  • You need to understand why one link looks different from others in the same newsletter

How it works

Section titled “How it works”

Open Penpal and describe what you’re seeing—for example, “Why is this link blue instead of my brand color?” or “Why does this link have an underline?” Penpal will check the newsletter’s styling and any inline formatting on that text, then explain what’s affecting the appearance.
