How does the Google docs integration work?

Now you can build your newsletter in Google docs and easily import it into the Letterhead composer.

When working in Google docs, make sure to structure your document as follows:

  1. Use the Heading options, not Title and Subtitle.
  2. Use normal body text for standard paragraph content.
  3. If your document includes links, they will be imported as URL blocks.

Getting Started

Go to Newsletters in your channel account, open the draft you want to work on.

  • Scroll to the Integration section at the very bottom of the editor.

  • Find the Google Doc document block and drag the Google Doc integration block into the draft area.

  • Click on the block to open the Google Doc selection options, and click Choose a Google doc.

  • Log in to your Google account when prompted, and grant the requested permissions so the integration can access your documents.

  • Select the Google Doc you would like to import.

Cautionary Notes

  • Make sure you are selecting the correct Google account before granting permissions.

  • Verify that the document chosen is the intended one, especially if multiple similar files exist.

  • If the integration does not appear, confirm you are looking in the Integration section at the bottom of the editor.

  • For the format mapping, here is how it is set up:
    • H1 = H1
      H2 = H2
      H3 = H3
      Divider = Divider
      Bulleted list = Paragraph with bulleted list
      Image = Image
      URLs = URL Blocks

      **None of the metadata like Title or Subtitle will carry over.

Tips for Efficiency

  • Keep the target Google Doc open or easy to find before starting the setup.

  • Use a clearly named document to reduce selection errors.

  • If you frequently use the same file, confirm it is accessible in the connected Google account to speed up future setup.
