The IAB Categorization Service is an enhanced, automated feature that brings industry-standard organization to all your content. It works in the background to ensure Curations are accurately and reliably tagged and easy to find.

What is Automatic IAB Categorization?

This service automatically assigns relevant content labels, known as IAB Categories, to your Curations. The IAB (Interactive Advertising Bureau) taxonomy is the industry standard for classifying digital content, ensuring your content is organized professionally and consistently.

Note: The IAB Categories cannot be created or edited. They are automatically applied to your curations.

How It Works (Behind the Scenes)

The service is powered by a deterministic, rule-based engine—it does not use complex machine learning or statistical models.

  1. Keyword Analysis: The system reads the keywords extracted from your content.

  2. Rule Check: It compares these keywords against defined sets for major content topics (like Health, Politics, or Business).

  3. Refinement: Based on these rules, the service confirms, adds, or refines the category tags on your content.

  4. Final Tagging: Your content is labeled with the final, precise IAB Category (limited to the Tier 2 level for simpler filtering).

The Automatic IAB Categorization Service is immediately active within Curations.

There are no steps required to activate the service. Simply view your Curations, and you will see the enhanced, rule-based IAB categories applied to your content, ready for filtering.
