Why am I receiving DMARC Reports

What are DMARC Reports

DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance) is an email authentication protocol designed to protect your domain from unauthorized use. These reports are automatically generated by email providers to show how your emails are being checked for legitimacy and whether they pass security checks.

Why are you receiving these reports now?

If you've recently set up or modified your DMARC policy, that could be why you're now seeing these reports.

What’s in the DMARC Report?

DMARC reports provide details on:

  • Email Sources: Where your emails are being sent from.
  • Security Checks (SPF & DKIM Results): Whether your emails pass authentication checks, ensuring they’re coming from a legitimate source.
  • DMARC Policy Actions: What happens to emails that fail authentication (delivered, quarantined, or rejected).

What Should You Do?

  • If most emails are passing the checks – No further action is needed; your setup is working as expected.
  • ⚠️ If some emails fail – This could indicate an issue with your domain's authentication settings.
  • 🚨 If you see emails sent from places you don’t recognize – This may indicate spoofing attempts, meaning someone is trying to send emails using your domain.
