When double opt-in is enabled, new subscribers receive an email asking them to confirm their subscription. Only after they confirm, they will start receiving your newsletters. This can be enabled or disabled at both org and channel levels.
Note: Double opt-in helps protect your email reputation by ensuring that only real, engaged people join your list. When enabled, subscribers must confirm their sign-up, which filters out bots, typos, and accidental submissions.
