This article explains how to add a YouTube video to your newsletter using the YouTube block. You’ll learn how to drag the block into your layout and customize the thumbnail, link, and appearance.
The YouTube block lets you showcase a video inside your newsletter with a clean thumbnail and an optional play button overlay. This helps you promote video content while keeping your email lightweight and visually consistent.
Step 1: Add the YouTube Block to Your Newsletter
-
Open your newsletter in the Advanced Composer.
-
In the left-hand blocks panel, find the YouTube block.
-
Drag and drop it into your newsletter where you'd like the video preview to appear.
Once added, you can customize the video through the block settings.
Step 2: Customize Your YouTube Block
In the block settings panel (on the right), you’ll see the following customization options:
Source
Paste the URL of the YouTube video you want to feature.
This tells the block which video to open when a reader clicks the thumbnail.
Thumbnail Image
Upload or choose the thumbnail image you want to display in the email.
-
You can use your own custom image
-
Or replicate the YouTube thumbnail look
Overlay Image with a Play Button
Check this option if you want a play icon over the thumbnail, this increases click-through rates and makes the block feel more interactive.
Alt Text
Add a short description of the video.
This improves accessibility and helps email clients that block images by default.
Alignment
Choose how the thumbnail is positioned:
-
Left
-
Center
-
Right
-
Full width
Full width is ideal for bold, visual layouts.
The YouTube block makes it easy to visually highlight your video content without embedding heavy HTML. Just drop in the block, add your video link, choose a thumbnail, and you’re ready to go.
